Product Details
V (Vee) anvils cradle cylindrical rods and tubing in a machined vee groove, holding round work securely centered beneath the indenter. Offered with a 1/2 in stem and in a 1-1/2 in size to fit different tester throats and specimen diameters.
The standard method calls for small-diameter cylindrical specimens to be tested on a hardened V-grooved anvil positioned directly under the indenter, which keeps the round centered and aligned to the indenter axis (the permitted alternative is a pair of aligned, clamped twin cylinders). Because testing on a curved surface introduces a known error, ISO 6508-1 provides corrections (Annex C) to add to the reading for convex cylinders, based on indenter type, hardness, and radius of curvature. Keep the V-groove clean and undamaged, with a minimum hardness of 58 HRC.
