Privacy Policy

Last Updated: August 12, 2026

WESTport Corporation ("WESTport," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you provide to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you visit westportcorp.com, request a quotation, place an order, create an account, submit gages for calibration, or otherwise communicate with us.

Our website is a business-to-business storefront for precision gaging, hardness testing equipment, and calibration services. By using our website, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

Information You Provide to Us

We collect information you voluntarily give us, which may include:

  • Name and job title
  • Company or organization name
  • Email address and telephone number
  • Billing and shipping addresses
  • Order, quotation, and product inquiry details
  • Part prints, drawings, and specifications you upload when requesting a custom or blueprint quote
  • Equipment details you provide when arranging calibration or repair service
  • Federal Tax ID, DUNS number, resale certificates, or similar business documentation when required for tax exemption or credit terms
  • Account sign-in information, if you create a customer account
  • The content of emails, quote requests, chat messages, and other communications you send us

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit our website, certain information is collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies, including your browser and device type, operating system, referring website, the pages you view, the products you search for, and how you interact with the site.

About IP addresses

We want to be specific about this rather than vague:

  • Our analytics do not store your IP address. We use Google Analytics 4, which does not log or retain IP addresses. Your general region may be estimated from your connection, but the address itself is discarded and is never available to us.
  • Our ecommerce platform does process IP addresses for security, fraud screening, and order records. Shopify, which hosts and operates our store, records the IP address associated with an order or account sign-in as part of its fraud-prevention and security functions. We access this only in connection with a specific order or security matter.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:

  • Strictly necessary — keeping you signed in, remembering your cart, processing checkout, and protecting against fraud. The site cannot function without these.
  • Analytics — understanding which pages and products are used, so we can improve the site.
  • Advertising — measuring the performance of our advertising and, in some cases, showing WESTport ads to people who have previously visited our website.

You can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of analytics and advertising cookies using the tools described in the Google Analytics and Google Ads sections below. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent parts of the site, including checkout, from working.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors find and use our website. Google Analytics reports aggregate information such as how many people visited a page, which products were viewed, which search terms were used on the site, and the general geographic region of our visitors.

As noted above, Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses. We do not use Google Analytics to identify individual visitors, and we do not combine Google Analytics data with your name, email address, or account information.

You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your activity by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Google Ads and Advertising

We advertise WESTport products and services through Google Ads. To measure whether our advertising works, a conversion tag records when a visit that began with one of our ads results in an order or a quote request. We may also use remarketing, which allows Google to show WESTport ads to people who have previously visited our website.

We do not provide your name, email address, or order contents to advertising networks for their own marketing purposes.

You can control how Google personalizes ads to you at myadcenter.google.com, and you can opt out of personalized advertising from participating companies at optout.aboutads.info.

Payment Information

Payment card transactions are processed by our ecommerce platform and its payment processors. WESTport does not receive or store complete payment card numbers or card security codes on its own systems. Payment information is handled by the payment processor under its own security practices and applicable card-industry standards.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Prepare quotations and respond to product and application inquiries
  • Process, fulfill, and ship orders
  • Provide calibration, repair, technical, and customer support services, and issue calibration certificates
  • Create and administer customer accounts and credit terms
  • Process payments and maintain transaction and traceability records
  • Communicate with you about orders, quotations, shipments, service status, and account activity
  • Improve our website, product data, and customer experience
  • Measure website and advertising performance
  • Prevent fraud, unauthorized transactions, and security incidents
  • Comply with legal, tax, accounting, export-control, and quality-system obligations, including records required under our ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 9001 programs
  • Send product announcements, technical resources, and other marketing communications where permitted by law

How We Share Information

WESTport does not sell your personal information for money.

Some privacy laws, including in California, define "selling" or "sharing" broadly enough to include the use of advertising cookies for cross-context behavioral advertising. Because we use Google Ads remarketing as described above, that activity may be treated as "sharing" under those laws. You may opt out at any time using the advertising opt-out links above, or by contacting us using the details below and asking us to stop sharing your information for advertising.

We share information with service providers and partners only as reasonably necessary to run our business, including:

  • Our ecommerce and website hosting platform
  • Payment processors
  • Shipping and logistics carriers
  • Accredited calibration laboratories and service partners who perform work on your equipment
  • Information technology, email, and data-hosting providers
  • Analytics and advertising providers
  • Professional advisers, including accountants, attorneys, and auditors
  • Government agencies or other parties where disclosure is required by law, or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims

These parties receive information only as needed to perform services for us, and are required to protect it.

If WESTport is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy.

Data Security

We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. Access to customer information is limited to personnel and service providers with a legitimate business need.

If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials confidential. No website, electronic transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. Order, calibration, and certification records are retained longer than general website data because they support product traceability and are required by our quality system, tax rules, and warranty obligations. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or remove the details that identify you.

Marketing Communications

You may choose to receive product updates, technical resources, and company news from WESTport. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email, or by contacting us.

Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop transactional messages about your orders, quotations, shipments, calibration service, or account, which we need to send to do business with you.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your information, subject to records we are required to keep
  • Request a portable copy of information you provided to us
  • Opt out of targeted advertising, or of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information as those terms are defined by applicable law
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights

Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Virginia, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws may have some or all of these rights. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will verify your identity before acting on a request, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law. You may use an authorized agent where the law permits.

Third-Party Websites

Our website links to manufacturer, supplier, standards-organization, and partner websites. WESTport is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of websites we do not operate. When you leave our site, the privacy policy of the destination site applies.

Children's Privacy

Our website, products, and services are intended for businesses and professionals and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have done so, we will delete it.

International Visitors

WESTport operates from the United States, and our website and records are hosted in the United States. If you access our website or place an order from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices, our website, or applicable law. Any revised version will be posted on this page with a new "Last Updated" date. Material changes will be identified clearly.
