Overview

A dial or electronic bore gage is a comparative instrument: it reports how far a bore differs from a known reference, so the accuracy of every reading depends on how accurately the gage was set in the first place.

Why a Setting Master

Setting a bore gage from gage blocks and a micrometer works, but it is slower and introduces operator-to-operator variation. A dedicated setting master makes the zeroing step fast and repeatable, which matters most when several inspectors share the same gage.
