Shallow V (Vee) anvils seat cylindrical rods and tubing in a shallower groove than a standard vee — ideal for larger diameters or work that needs less clearance. Available with 1/4 in and 1/2 in stems.
As with any vee anvil, position the groove directly under the indenter so the round stays centered and aligned to the indenter axis. Tests on convex cylindrical surfaces carry a known error; ISO 6508-1 (Annex C) gives corrections to add to the reading based on indenter type, hardness, and radius of curvature. Keep the groove clean and undamaged, with a minimum hardness of 58 HRC.
