The Cylindron (roller) anvil supports cylindrical work on a roller, letting long shafts and tubes be positioned and rotated for testing along their length.
It is the support of choice for larger-diameter rounds — those too large for a standard V groove. The standard method recognizes this class of support: curved material may be tested with the convex surface resting on a V-shaped or a double-roller-style anvil. As with the V anvil, tests on convex cylindrical surfaces carry the ISO 6508-1 (Annex C) curvature corrections. Keep the roller surfaces clean, undamaged, and hard enough to give rigid support (minimum 58 HRC).
