Pedestal spot anvils raise a small contact point for testing small parts and sheet metal where minimal support is required. Choose a standard spot (1 in stem) or a raised spot (1/2 in or 1/4 in stem) to match specimen height and tester clearance.
The raised spot is well suited to small, thin, or irregularly shaped pieces — and to parts that lack a truly flat bottom — where a broad flat anvil cannot give clean, level support; it concentrates support directly beneath the indenter. Keep the spot clean and free of pits and scratches, and make sure the anvil is rigid and hard enough (minimum 58 HRC) not to deform under the major load.
