These are used for drilling and well servicing equipment. In order to use NC Connections thread plug and thread ring gages properly, you need to follow these steps:
First, you need to identify the correct thread insert for the job by checking the full topping profile of both internal and external inserts.
Next, you need to set up the inspection gages according to the specifications of the connection by using your preferred software program to display the connection drawings, inspection gage information, and setup and inspection reports.
Then you need to inspect the thread form of the connection to verify the thread form accuracy and the deburring of the first imperfect thread.
Next you need to measure the pitch diameter of the connection to measure the pitch diameter at the gauge point and the stand-off between the thread plug and thread ring members of a gage set.
Last but not least you need to document the inspection results and compare them with the API Spec 7-21 or other relevant standards. Use your preferred software program to generate the inspection reports and certificates.
NC Connections are Rotary Shoulder Connections that have the V-040, V-050 or V-055 Thread Forms.
