Hughes H90 Non Preferred Rotary Shouldered Connection - Thread Plug and Ring Gages are tools used to measure the quality and accuracy of the threads on pipes and drill bits used in the oil and gas industry. These gages check the dimensions, pitch, taper, and profile of the H90 thread form which is a 90-degree angle thread with a rounded root and crest.
The H90 thread form is one of the several types of rotary shouldered connections, which are used to join drill pipes, drill collars, and other components of the drill string. Rotary shouldered connections are characterized by having a pin and a box end, which are screwed together to form a tight seal and transmit torque and axial load. The H90 thread form is considered a non preferred connection so it is not widely used or recommended by the American Petroleum Institute (API) which is the leading standard-setting organization for the oil and gas industry.
