Eyeball anvils use a swiveling ball seat that self-aligns to test pieces with slight tapers or uneven surfaces, keeping the specimen square to the indenter.
They are designed for specimens whose underside is mildly angled and cannot be seated squarely on a flat or standard V anvil. The adjustable seat brings the test surface perpendicular to the indenter — a hard requirement for a valid reading. Keep the seat clean, undamaged, and rigid, with a minimum hardness of 58 HRC.
