Air probes measure internal features a standard air plug gage cannot reach — deep bores, slots, grooves, counterbores and recesses. Regulated air flows through precision jets near the measuring end, and the change in clearance changes the airflow, which the column or amplifier reads as a dimension once the system is set to a certified master.
