Our New Website Is Live: 8,000 Product Pages Became 272

Same catalog. Same part numbers. Far less hunting. Here is what we changed at westportcorp.com, and why.

If you have ever shopped for gages online, you know the problem. You search for a thread plug gage, and you get back four hundred listings that look identical. Each one is a single size. Each one is its own page. Somewhere in there is the 1/4-20 Class X GO member you actually need, and finding it is your job, not the website's.

That was our old site. It carried more than 8,000 individual product URLs, most of them a single size of something we also sold in ninety other sizes. It worked, in the sense that everything was technically there. It just made you do the work.

Today we launched a completely rebuilt westportcorp.com. The catalog has not shrunk — every part number we sold last week, we still sell. What changed is how you get to it.

One page per product, not one page per part number

Our 8,285 old product pages are now 272 configurable products, carrying 13,943 selectable variants between them. Take the Taperlock Thread Plug Gage. It used to be spread across hundreds of separate listings. Now it is one page with all 708 of its variants on it.

Filter by measurement system, size, material and member. Every row shows its own part number and price, and Select adds that exact variant to your cart.

You pick inch or metric, then narrow by size, material and member. The table shows the part number and the price for every row, so you can confirm you have the right gage before you add it. No cross-referencing a spec sheet against a list of near-identical page titles.

Navigation that matches the catalog

The old menu had grown by accretion. The new one has six panels — Gages, Calibration Services, Taps & Dies, Hardness Testing, Resources and Company — and the Gages panel lays out all twenty product families at once, from Standard Thread Gages through Tri-Roll Comparators. You can see the whole catalog structure without clicking into it.

Add-ons, right where you configure the gage

Handles and long-form certificates are selectable options, as they have always been — and on the new pages they sit directly under the configurator with their prices shown, so you can add a handle or a long-form cert and watch the total change before you order.

Quoting from anywhere, and made-to-print work too

Express Quote now sits in the header on every page, and express quotes come back within minutes. If you need something built to your blueprint, there is a custom quote path for that as well — including a dedicated form for custom taps and dies.

Calibration, front and center

Our ISO/IEC 17025:2017–accredited laboratory now has real estate to match its importance: 24 service areas across more than 20 measurement disciplines, covering dimensional and mechanical, electrical and electronic, environmental, and specialty and field work. More than 200 calibration capabilities, all NIST-traceable. The lab is also ANSI/NCSL Z540-1 accredited.

It works on your phone

Worth saying plainly, because it did not before: the catalog, the selection tables and the quote flow all work on a phone or a tablet. If you are on the floor with a print in one hand, you can still look up a part number.
