Spline Gages

WESTport provides a full range of Spline Ring and Plug gages to meet your quality specifications. Company accreditations include ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 9001, compliancy to ISO 10012-1, ANSI/NCSLZ540-1 and former MIL-STD-45662A. Our design engineering team has worked on committees for SAE, ANSI, SME, AGMA and AGMTA for the development of our national industry standards for splines and gears.

We use only the highest quality steel in our manufacturing process. Our unique heat-treating and stabilizing process insures 100 percent stability. Each spline gage is then precision lapped and polished providing superior accuracy, optimum gage surface finish and longer wear life. Completing the quality assurance process each spline gage is inspected and certified in our state-of-the-art environmentally controlled ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory. This insures your spline ring and plug gages will provide you with unmatched quality, accuracy, stability, durability and reliability.

Spline gages are designed according to the tolerances 'actual' and 'effective'. From design to final inspection our design and manufacturing team will work with your team to meet and exceed your expectations. Our in-house CAD capabilities minimize manufacturing costs which inturn we pass along to our customers.

Go and NOGO spline gages are available in Involute, straight-sided, angular sided, parallel sided and helical; all traceable to NIST. Involute and straight sided splines as well as serrations can be produced by hobbing, shaping, broaching, and rolling. Taper Master Plugs are available for use with GO or NOGO ring gages.

Both internal and external splines are cut using our CNC gear cutting machines. Hobbed splines can be made in lengths up to 50-60".. Shorter splines can be cut up to 36" in diameter; either internals with up to 9" face length, or externals with longer lengths. For external, the exact length depends on the diameter of the spline and the configuration of the overall part.

WESTports experienced team of design and technical engineers will gladly assist your engineers in all phases of your spline gage design and any other special requirements you may have.

Indicator Spline Gages

The indicator spline gage consists of a "go condition" plug or ring gage, a measuring insert and a setting master.
The go plug gage checks the component for full-form composite errors and the measuring insert checks the actual size of the spline between pins.
This gage can measure the following errors:
• GO and NOGO condition
• Actual size between the pins
• Taper of the splines
